WINFOCUS ULTRASOUND LIFE SUPPORT Basic Level 1 – Provider(USLS BL1P) Course is an internationally recognized program with training on ultrasound as a tool for managing critically ill. Sri Lankan Society of Critical Care and Emergency Medicine (SSCCEM) is happy to host this course which carries an internationally recognized certificate.
The two day workshop will target on focused assessment of the clinical condition ultrasonically and support in carrying out bed side procedures in patients.
Assessment will be in a structural approach similar to evaluation of critically ill in the form of Airway Breathing. Circulation etc. Point of care assessment will go further in helping invasive procedures under the guidance of ultrasonic visualization.
The training which has a very short learning curve will help physicians in diagnosing and managing critically ill with time for such steps reduced remarkably.
Initial lectures on how ultrasound can be used to diagnose medical conditions at bed side will lead to hands on training on individual basis for each trainee.
Point of care ultrasound, Basic Physics and Knobology
Sono Anatomy; SC Emphysema, tracheal displacement, prandial status.
Endotracheal intubation, cricothyroidotomy, tracheotomy
Assessment: sonological signs, pleural effusion, alveolar consolidation,
alveolar interstitial syndrome, pneumothorax;
Procedure: Needle aspiration, thoracostomy tube insertion
Introduction to basic echocardiography: Goals, indications and limitations, cardiac and caval windows.
Focused haemodynamic assessment: heart morphology/ performance/ filling state, pericardial effusion/ tamponade, IVC variations.
Echo views/ Assessment of LV function; IVC visualization and variability.
Deep venous system: deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism; peripheral and central venous catheterization
Peritoneal, pleural & pericardial effusion: FAST windows / Paracentesis, DPL, laparotomy
Disability: Optic nerve and pupil abnormalities
