A full day of intensive ultrasound teaching and practice aimed at the competencies for CORE (Level 1) Emergency Ultrasound as set out by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. The course includes FAST scanning in trauma, abdominal aortic assessment, ultrasound guided vascular access and echo in life support as well as scanning for pneumothoraces.
It will appeal to a wide range of healthcare professionals who wish to develop focused ultrasound skills as an extension of their clinical practice. This course offers a combination of lectures that cover the underlying theoretical concepts of ultrasound scanning and clinical applications of Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma (FAST), Assessment of the Abdominal Aorta for Aneurysm (AAA), Focused Echocardiography in Life Support (ELS) and Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access (VA).
It will involve practical teaching in small groups on normal subjects, real patients, Lots of ‘hands on’ scanning practice under the supervision of our experienced faculty ,Lots of clinical tips for success with ultrasound at the bedside and how to get the best images.
